Those Who Matter

"Those who matter don't mind, and those who mind don't matter"

I have a really good friend that is "talking" to my best guy friend. They dated two years ago, when she was in 8th grade and he was in 7th. She and I are now in 10th grade, and he is in ninth. Just recently, they found out they still had feelings for each other after being broken up for over two years. Well, they are both two of my closest friends. I would even say they are my best friends. The boy's mom LOVES me, because I am always watching out for her son. He is a grade younger than me, but half a year older, but I still watch him as if he were my brother. I am always with their family, and our families are best friends. Well my other friend, the girl, says that the boy's mom does not like her and this is what I told her: You are not dating his mom. You are dating him. She said, "Well duh, but it'd be a lot better if she liked me." And this is the next thing I told her. "Don't worry about the parents. My mom doesn't like Justin (who is my ex) but we still hang out anyway. I mean, they can't realy stop me." She had this to say: "But wouldn't you feel better if they liked him?" I said, "Well yeah, but if you like someone, no one else should matter." As long as you are happy, no one else is going to care. If you are dating someone that your friend or parents don't like, they will eventually get over it, because all they want is for you to be happy. And besides, it's not like you're going to marry this person or something. And even if you do, then your friends and family will warm up to the person by then. Happiness is really all that matters in relationships. Those people who really matter, don't mind. Just as long as you're happy. :)
